I pray for my husband Earl who was like a brother to Kathie especially these last 7+ years. Earl retired in October 2001. Earl has spent just about everyday with Kathie and her many friends and family. They had a unique relationship and he is missing Kathie a lot. Kathie's husband Butch, Miss Betty and other friends were always at their apartment on Ebeneezer Church Road. Today Earl is driving Butch his his mothers home in Orange Co, VA until after Thanksgiving. I'm am hoping that Butch comes back and stays with Billie and Richie and remain close to them as well as his grand-daughter Hailie Jean Kathie's little angel she adored her so much.

No words can express what you all are going through at this difficult time. I've known Kathie since before she was pregnant with Billie and I was pregnant with my son Bryan at the same time which was almost 28 years ago. In July 2001, 7 ½ years ago Earl and I moved to Stafford and the first thing we did was to find Kathie. We had lost touch since the mid 90's. We found Kathy within days after going to Perkins Restaurant one afternoon. I think everyone in Stafford knew Kathie and we found out that she was living at the Wayside and contacted her within days. I'm so grateful we found her because it was a joy knowing Kathie in my life. Kathie may not have been rich but she had a heart of gold. Kathy had a way that drew people to her and everyone wanted to be around her. She lived life to the fullest. I'm going to miss Kathie calling almost everyday for Earl, well sometimes she called for me too. Kathie would call and ask where my husband was or "Hey, where's our husband? (laughing)" or where's Earlio? I thank Kathie for our 2 pets Tony and Skippy, it was because of Kathie we have them. Kathie was a wonderful friend and I'll always love her and I'll miss her a lot. Earl had known Kathie since 1975 and they were the best of friends. I'm so glad they had each other even though it wasn't nearly long enough; he will miss her dearly.
TRUE FRIENDS
A true friend is always there for you
A true friend will help you no matter the problem
A true friend is like a sister, she knows you better, than you know yourself
A true friend is someone who knows when you're sad, and can cheer you up when you need it most
A true friend is someone that can make you laugh no matter what they say or do
A true friend is someone who believes in you
A true friend will stick by your side
A true friend is someone you can call just if you need a shoulder to lean on But most of all a true friend will never leave you

Kathie, I miss you my friend, your smile, the laughs, the great times we had through the years. Kathie touched everyone with special love and kindness. You were like a sister to me and I will always cherish the unique friendship we had. Kathie Doolittle, we shared many laughs, parties and tears you were always so kind and caring to everyone including the stray animals. I've lost my best friend and hold on to the wonderful memories we had. God Bless you Kathie I miss you. To Butch, Joan, Bobby, John, Billie, Richie, Hailie and all your family I hope that you can find comfort in all the wonderful memories that you have of Kathie. May God be with you and comfort you. Your best friend always, Earlio.
Kathie, I found this poem yesterday and thought of you...
I am the wind...
...I am the rain
I am the sunlight...
...through your windowpane
I am the leaf...
...turning brown in the fall
I am the faintest whisper...
...on the breeze when you call
I am the snowflake...
...that kisses your cheek
I'm the child in the park...
...playing hide "n" go seek
I'm the scent of the flowers...
...that fills the spring air
I'm all around you...
...I'm everywhere
I'll always be with you...
...from this moment on
I'm your every dance...
...your every song
You see when we move on...
...we never truly die
We become one with nature...
...we unify
Take care my precious one...
...on my passing don't dwell
Remember the love
we shared together...
All is well...
Love you, Earlio & Dee
