The first time my husband and I went to the Outer Banks was with a large group of friends. It took us about 8 hours to get to Hatteras Village from Alexandria, VA. We tent camped at Hatteras Sands Campground. It is really close to the ferry that is free and takes you to Ocracoke Island. This is a picture of Cape Hatteras Lighthouse I took in 1987 when our son Bryan was 6 years old. We stayed at a motel in Hatteras Village.Tuesday, June 26, 2007
